Simone Scala
DC13 - Artelnics
Simone Scala is a mathematician with a background in numerical analysis, optimization, and data science. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Naples Federico II (Italy). His Master’s thesis, completed during an Erasmus exchange at the University of Padova, focused on a new functional operator applied to Graph Convolutional Neural Networks. During his academic training, he earned official MathWorks certifications in MATLAB, gained teaching experience as a high-school teacher, and co-authored a paper on exploratory data analysis and supervised learning in plant phenotyping, contributing primarily as a data analyst and machine-learning specialist.
As Doctoral Candidate 13 at the NEUTEN project, Simone is an AI researcher at Artelnics (Spain) while pursuing his PhD at KU Leuven (Belgium). He is developing advanced machine-learning and artificial intelligence methods for environmental and industrial processes optimization, particularly for water-waste treatment systems. He is contributing to OpenNN for the advancement of open-source scientific knowledge.
