Sydvatten AB is a municipally owned company producing drinking water for 1 million inhabitants in the region of Skåne in south Sweden. The Company was founded in 1966 and is today one of Sweden’s largest producers of drinking water. For many years, Sydvatten has supported and led various research and development projects with the aim at long-term value-creating knowledge for water in society. The R&D-projects are run together with other actors but are also applied directly in Sydvatten’s internal development work. Together with two other major water utilities in south Sweden (NSVA and VA Syd), Sydvatten collaborates also in a joint research company named Sweden Water Research AB.

The staff of the R&D-group of Sydvatten is the head of research Dr. Kenneth M Persson, who also is employed as professor at Lund University, division of Water Resources Engineering. Three PhD.s work as research leaders, Drs. Christian Alsterberg, Clemens Klante and Kristofer Hägg in the R&D-group. August Bjerkén is employed as industrial doctoral candidate with the research theme to develop a dynamic water balance for the water catchment area of River Lagan. Juha Rankinen is the director of the Research Station Bolmen, which was established in 2017 to broaden the knowledge of the most important raw water resource for the region, Lake Bolmen, located in the River Lagan catchment area.

We are looking for a doctoral candidate in the Neuten project who would like to work with market behavior analysis and commercialization strategies for energy-neutral wastewater treatment systems and municipal water systems in general. The person will work with data analysis of industry trends, competitors, and market sizes for various treatment technologies and renewable energies; identify macro-environmental factors and utilize risk analysis methods to identify potential risk challenges in commercializing energy -neutral wastewater treatment technologies, enabling proactive mitigation strategies supported by systematic cost-effective analysis; design a go-to-market strategy for the rapid commercialization of the technologies; provide recommendations to align technological innovation with market demands and customer needs.
