UPatras AOP laboratory is a well-equipped laboratory for the investigation of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewaters, as well as other aqueous matrices, including surface waters, groundwater, potable water and treated effluents. The available equipment involves (among others) Electron Spin Resonance instrument, Automatic titrator, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, COD, BOD and Total Organic Carbon Analyzer, Bench-Top Bioreactor Minifors 2, small pilot-scale stainless-steel (SS) flat-plate reflector (FPR) (volume 70 L), 5 Hydrothermal Synthesis Autoclave Reactor, a high-pressure reactor (volume 0.6 L), several mass flow controllers, several photo reactors, UV, visible and simulating solar light, electrolysis cell device. The laboratory has also developed significant know-how on the process, modelling, optimization and control of chemical processes and is specialized on the technoeconomic and environmental performance analysis of novel processes at the early stages of their development and conceptualization. The laboratory also has available software form performing advance modelling studies such as ΜΑΤLAB, GAMS and Unisim/Honneywell. A comprehensive training environment is guaranteed by 2 post-docs that provide training and daily guidance to the doctoral researchers.
